Sabre Delay

Description: Players line up in opposite corners. First players skate at the same time up and across the blue line (flat skate) They each get a pass from the second player in line from the opposite side of the ice. This passer performs a timed or controlled skate over his blue to keep the pass onside. The 1st players then skates into the zone performing a tight turn with the puck. After making this turn he then passes to the second man (the passing player who has flat skated and is now in the high slot). He shoots and the delay man looks for a rebound.

Cues: Flat skate, stay on side for pass, crisp passes on the tape. Timing on second man. Delay man turn towards boards, protect puck. go to net for the rebound and finish it.

Variation: Add a checker, and/or an additional man teaching a triangular attack.
