ON THE FLY PASSING DRILL

This drill can be done in two ways and is excellent for learning to take a pass on the fly at various key locations.

Note the different skating layouts (top and lower). The top drill forces the player to take a pass while cutting to the center of the ice. The lower pattern forces player to go wide and cut back into the net.

Drill 1: Player skates as shown around pylons and receives a pass from coach (or other player) at end of rink. Player shoots on net and goes to end of other line.

Drill 2: Coaches (or players) are in center ice circle as shown. Player skates with puck and makes a pass to coach as shown. Player continues the pattern and receives a pass from coach as shown and shoots on net.

Learning Skills:

Passing-give-and-go, edge control, puck control
